The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based medical and scientific expert responsible for engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to support medical strategy and product launch execution in the oncology/hematology therapeutic area. This role plays a critical part in establishing scientific credibility and advancing the understanding of current and emerging treatments through compliant, evidence-based interactions.
Territory: Southeast U.S. (AL, FL, GA, MS, TN)
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with national, regional, and local oncology/hematology experts and other stakeholders to support disease awareness, clinical development, and therapeutic insights.
- Provide scientifically balanced, evidence-based information about pipeline and marketed products, including mechanisms of action, clinical trial data, and evolving treatment paradigms.
- Contribute to pre-launch readiness and successful product launch execution by gathering field insights, educating healthcare stakeholders, and executing territory engagement plans.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners (e.g., clinical operations, medical affairs, market access) to support clinical trial awareness and potential site identification.
- Continuously monitor and communicate evolving scientific trends, competitive intelligence, and real-world treatment dynamics to inform internal strategy.
- Present approved scientific materials to external stakeholders in both group and one-on-one settings, ensuring clarity and scientific integrity.
- Participate in the evaluation and facilitation of externally sponsored research proposals.
- Attend relevant medical congresses and symposia to stay current in oncology and hematology advancements and represent the organization in field interactions.
- Contribute to internal medical training initiatives and scientific education efforts as needed.
- Ensure all activities adhere to applicable compliance standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree required: PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, or Master’s in Life Sciences with relevant clinical or research experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience in a field medical role.
- Prior experience in oncology or hematology is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting or directly contributing to a product launch is highly desirable.
- Established relationships with medical experts in oncology or hematology is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to synthesize and communicate complex scientific data clearly and effectively.
- Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight and occasional weekends.
